Travelling to Singapore with an Elderly

December 26, 2019

It’s the holiday season! What do you have planned for this merry month? Come to Singapore with your family and enjoy the holiday season with them. Are you going to bring your elderly family member along but worried due to the travel? Continue reading to find out how to have an exciting, safe and comfortable time in Singapore!

Pick the Time

There would be a lot of rain in December in Singapore so #SGB_Team suggests you to find indoor tourist attractions for safety reason when you are bringing an elderly. Don’t forget to bring a jacket and umbrella as well! #SGB_Family can start exploring the country from morning so that your older family member won’t be too tired by the end of the day.

Straight to Hotel

Once you have gotten out of Changi Airport, travel straight to your hotel first to settle down your belongings.

Make sure you your arrival time matches with your hotel check in time so that your parents will be able to rest in the hotel soon. If you’d like to explore Jewel Changi, come earlier to Changi Airport on your departure day!

Request A Room at Level 1

For convenience purpose, it is best to get a room from level one. Though there is nothing wrong in calling the receptionist counter, waiting for your request to be fulfilled can be tiring too so the lower ground you can get to stay in, the better it will be for the elderly.

Roam Around the City

Choose the central district of Singapore such as Orchard, Bugis and Marina Bay as a destination to explore. Try to book a hotel in the area that you are planning to explore with your elderly family members to ease their legs from all the walking!

#SGB_Family can explore Marina Bay Sands, Artscience Museum Singapore, Gardens by the Bay and Merlion statue. All of the tourist attractions mentioned above are within walking distance from one another, so choose your date to visit these places!

Use Taxi/Online Taxi

Singapore is a tourist friendly country and there are numerous public transportation options that you can choose from (bus, MRT, LRT). However, this can be inconvenient when you are travelling with your elderly parents as there would still be a decent amount of distance that you need to cover by foot to reach MRT stations or bus stations. Thus, SGB_Famly can consider using a taxi or an online taxi such as Gojek or Grab.

Prepare Necessities

#SGB_Family needs do prepare the required items before coming to Singapore such as personal medication and a tumbler to keep you hydrated!

Those are the tips that #SGB_Team has prepared. Hopefully, they will be useful and can get _SGB_Family ready before coming to Singapore!
