Singapore First Smart Supermarket

Singapore First Smart Supermarket

November 15, 2019

What makes the Supermarket in Singapore special? Is it the price, product availability, or new innovation?

A supermarket in Singapore managed to combine all three criteria mentioned above and your shopping experience will not be the same anymore.

Located at 34 Boon Leat Terrace, this new supermarket is called Habitat Supermarket.

With an area of over 18.288 metre square, there are approximately 60,000 goods sold here starting from basic needs to herbs and spices.

For a second, this supermarket looks like a normal market, but the magic will happen when you are about to head to checkout.

Don’t expect cashier to be standing by the isle to serve you because all you will see is an automated scanning checkout system.

All the items sold here are to be paid without cash. Customers are to download beePay app (an automated payment system that belongs to Honestbee) and top up your e-wallet before shopping.

Robots Acting as Staffs

For those who are going to shop monthly grocery or simply are going to spend a lot, this method might just work nicely for you!

Welcoming Nobbee, the first automated checkout trolley machine, you will need to bring the trolley to a metal door and transfer the code sent to your phone to the trolley until you hear a “beep”.

The “beep” indicates that the trolley is ready to enter Nobbee machine. From there, all you need to do is to wait for the machine to finish counting your items.

In the machine, the robots will start to do their job. Once all your items have been scanned, they will be moved to a conveyor belt where the robots will move them to plastic bags.

Once your purchase is done, SGB_Family will be notified through Honestbee application. Once you have received this, you can head to RoboCollect and use your password beePay.

When purchase is completed, the robots will be waiting for you to take your groceries!

Other Things That You Can Do Here

Other than shopping offline, you can also shop online here. The online shopping system at Habitat is also supervised by robots but the delivery system still needs manpower.

Are you tired after shopping? You can also eat and stay in Habitat hotel. SGB_Family can also give the wine collection at Honestbee a try

Isn’t this futuristic market in Singapore amazing?
