What is Supermoon?
A moon is considered a supermoon when it’s in a full moon state and its position has come closer to earth. Technically, a supermoon is also be a full moon. However, supermoon is located about 10% closer to the earth and shorter than its trajectory. Therefore, the moon will look magnificent and bright.
This phenomenon has occurred throughout history in 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2005. Interestingly, supermoon is often associated with natural disasters, such as earthquakes. Don’t worry! The movement of the moon is not strong enough to affect the movement of land or mountains.
When Can I See the Pink Supermoon?
Supermoon will show itself for the third time this year. On 7 and 8 April 2020, you can take a look out of your window and spot it! Reported by forbes.com, Super Snow Moon and Super Worm Moon can already be seen such that Super Pink Moon will come after them.
It will look huge this month because it will hit the centre of the horizon. Quickly view the moon and don’t miss it because it will only last for 20 minutes.
Where Can I See the Supermoon?
Don’t worry #SGB_Family, you don’t need to leave the comfort of your home to watch the Pink Supermoon. All you need to do is to make sure you face east and view it from a higher level of a building. If your house does not face the east, you can still catch the moon on 8 April 2020 morning!
Is it really pink? This full moon will have a slightly pale color which can look like the mixture of orange, yellow and white, but it will surely get brighter in time. Find out yourself to know how the colour really look like!
If you missed this month’s supermoon, you will have to wait until 7 May 2020. If you’d like to see Super Beaver Moon which would be the biggest supermoon yet, you will have to wait until 25 November 2034. That would be a long wait, wouldn’t it?
