Terminal 4 of Changi Airport is allowing people above 6 years old to go through immigration check without a passport. However, this only applies to people who hold “K” letter at the front of their passport. This passport was only released on 1 January 2018.

The trial has also been implanted at Tuas Checkpoint where commuters are only needed to look at the scanner and verification will take place. Convenient and advanced isn’t it, #SGB_Family?

The Rules

There are some rules that come with this new development. Commuters are required to take off any object such as hats, glasses, contact lens in order to proceed to face recognition and scanning of pupils.

It’s Very Efficient!

You don’t need to meet the immigration officer or scan your thumbs anymore as this modern technological advancement is being used. It’s very common to find people who have problems with the thumb prints due to age, dryness of skin that can lead to cracks. These problems are the culprit to slow immigration process in the airport.

Two Methods!

You will pass through a section of checkpoint where your face and pupils will be scanned. Next, someone will double check your document to see if your face tallies with what is stated on the paper. This process will take a very minimum amount of time, which will increase the efficiency of the immigration.

The above changes will start to be implemented in 2020. This trial run uses GUI, a dynamic interface that was developed by Home Team Science and Technology Agency.

#SGB_Family surely can’t wait to see how advanced Singapore is in 2023 right?
