Take A Bus

There are rules applied when taking a bus. For instance, passengers have to enter from the front door which is near the driver’s seat. Why? It is because you will have to tap your Ez-Link Card or STP to ride the bus. If you do not have any of these cards, you may pay by cash by asking the driver ho much will it cost to your destination and put in cash into a small cash box.

You are required to have the exact amount of money because the bus driver will not be able to give you any change.

Don’t be in a hurry when entering the bus because the bus driver will wait until every passengers are on board before closing the door.

Inside The Bus

Once you are on the bus, there will be special seats never to the entrance that are reserved for the elderly, pregnant woman or those who are feeling unwell. Please proceed further into the bus for the commonly used seats. You may sit at the special seats but you will have to give it up when any of the described people mentioned above boarded the bus. Normally, the special seats are yellow or red colour.

Drinking and eating is not encouraged inside the bus. Though no sign is put up like in the MRT Stations, this is suggested to respect the other passengers.

Aligning

Bus drivers will not announce every stops so you will have to pay attention on where to stop and make sure to press the stop button to align on the next bus stop. The stop buttons cane found on any of the pole near the seats.

If you missed your stop, you will have to align on the next stop as busses in Singapore are not allowed to halt anywhere else other than a bus stop.

You may exit using the front door or the back door.

Don’t forget to tap out using your Ez-Link or STP card. If you pay with cash, you may exit the bus without tapping.
