Reported by Channel NewsAsia, the decorations for this year’s Chinese New Year has already started. As you might be able to see, MRT and MRT stations along with buses are different than usual and have many adorable decorations on them.
Tourists who are coming to Singapore this February are suggested to use the public transportation for its convenience and comfort. Other than being easily accessible, you will see many Chinese New Year theme on the public transportations in during this time of season.
This year, five MRT stations such as Outram Park, Bugis and Esplanade are chosen to have motif of luck and lively colours to welcome Chinese New Year 2019 (5 and 6 February).
“With the theme Celebration of Abundance and Prosperity, we join commuters in ushering in the Year of the Boar with Zodiac motifs and other auspicious elements such as gold ingots symbolising wealth and prosperity, as well as cherry blossoms which symbolise rebirth, renewal, optimism and new beginnings,” said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Saturday (Jan 19).
Bus number 80, 143, 166, 147 and 174 will also be decorated accordingly.
“Themed stations, trains and buses are part of LTA’s efforts to liven up the commuting experience during festive seasons, and foster positive commuter culture,” said LTA.
The trains and buses decorated for CNY will start operating from 19 January to 19 February.
